Rebecca L. O'Malley, MD specializes in the treatment of genitor-urinary cancers. After graduating cum laude from Tufts University she completed her medical degree at Stony Brook University School of Medicine where she received several honors including election to the Gold Humanism Honor Society and to the medical honor society Alpha Omega Alpha. She completed general surgical and urologic training at NYU Langone Medical Center where she was awarded the urology resident inservice award several times for scores exceeding the 95th percentile nationwide.
Dr. O'Malley completed a Society of Urologic Oncology accredited two year fellowship in urologic oncology at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, New York which included extensive training in robotic cystectomy, robotic prostatectomy and robotic kidney surgery. Additionally, she gained skills in the multidisciplinary approach to cancer, which are crucial in this age of rapid technological and pharmaceutical advancements, in order to provide total care for complicated cancer patients.
Dr. O'Malley's research interests include outcomes of treatment of all urologic cancers with a particular focus on kidney cancer treatment. She has specific training in biostatistics involving public health concerns in urologic cancers. She has authored or co-authored more than 45 papers, book chapters and abstracts in peer reviewed publications. She has presented extensively at national and international conferences. Dr. O'Malley currently holds appointment at Albany Medical College as Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery, Division of Urology.
